We’re Looking for a New District Youth Lead – Apply Now!

After 6 amazing years in the role, Joseph, our current District Youth Lead, will be stepping down in the first half of 2025. Now, we’re on the lookout for someone to step into his shoes and continue the great work of shaping Scouting in Royal Greenwich.

This is your chance to get involved in an exciting leadership role with the District Team. Whether you’re interested in applying for the role yourself or nominating someone you think would be perfect, we want to hear from you!

About the Role:

The District Youth Team ensures that young people’s voices are heard and that their ideas shape how Scouting works locally. As a Youth Lead or member of the team, you’ll work alongside volunteers and the District Leadership Team to provide leadership opportunities and ensure young people are at the heart of everything we do.

What You’ll Be Doing:

• Helping volunteers make sure young people’s ideas are at the heart of the programme.
• Promoting opportunities for young people to take the lead, like the YouShape Award and the Young Leaders Scheme.
• Making sure young people know all the opportunities available to them, including when they turn 18.
• Influencing important decisions in the District as a member of the Trustee Board (Youth Lead only).
• Working with other Youth Leads and volunteers to create a youth-shaped experience in Scouting.

Who We’re Looking For:

• Youth Leads must be aged 18-24.
• Youth Team members can be aged 16-24, with some flexibility.
• A passion for empowering young people and working together to make Scouting even better.
• A desire to influence decisions and make sure young people are at the heart of everything we do.

Key Dates:

• We’re looking to appoint the Youth Team in February, with a handover before fully taking on the role in May 2025.
• We’re especially keen to hear from people who will be 18 by the end of the 2024/25 academic year.
