Royal Greenwich Scouts take part in Gabriel’s Wharf Beach Clean

Date: 14th Feb 2024 Author: Joseph Shippam

In an inspiring show of teamwork and care for the environment, Royal Greenwich Scouts teamed up with Recorra for a beach clean-up at Gabriel’s Wharf, London. With their bright hi-vis vests and handy litter pickers, 32 Scouts and volunteers hit the beach, determined to make it spotless.

On 14th February, Scouts from across Royal Greenwich, worked side by side to tackle the litter problem along the shoreline. They picked up all sorts of rubbish, from plastic bottles to wrappers and even a few tyres, ensuring the beach stayed clean for everyone to enjoy.

This beach clean-up helps Scouts earn badges and awards. Scouts aiming for badges like Community Impact, Environmental Conservation, Personal Safety, and Naturalist Activity got a chance to show tick-off requirements. And it’s all part of bigger awards like My World, Our World, and World Challenge, which recognize Scouts’ efforts to make a difference locally and globally.

Speaking about the day, Joseph from the District Team, said,

Today’s beach clean-up shows the true spirit of Scouting – caring for our planet and helping our community

Meanwhile, Lucy, an Explorer from GESS enjoyed walking walking along the beach and

enjoyed finding some cool rocks!

Royal Greenwich Scouts want to thank Recorra for joining hands in organising this meaningful event. They’re excited about more partnerships that will help make the world a cleaner, safer, and better place for all.
